The cutest Birbs on the blockchain!
The Story starts with 8192 Birbs of the finest quality, born after years of sketches and drawings made by the talented artist Process Smith who is part of our team. Each Birb is assembled from a pool of traits with different rarities that are assigned programmatically and stored on IPFS. No one knows where they came from, but like most Birbs, they like to lay eggs that will hatch into new and surprising assets!
Mating call
Mating any two Gen 1 Birbs will create an egg. This is done via the My Birbs page and is free + gas. Birbs are not burned during the mating process, you keep your Gen 1 Birbs!
You can mate at any time, there is no rush and no time window. Birbs can only mate once for a next generation egg, however, Gen 1 Birbs can still mate for other future assets. You can check if a Birb has already been mated Here
How are Birbs made?
The eggs are unique generative artworks in their own right. The egg artwork will hint at the body type of your Gen 2 Birb, but its other traits will remain unknown until it hatches.
The shell of the egg you get is influenced by the body type of its parents while its other (hidden) traits are influenced by the rarity of his parent's traits. It is not possible to know these traits until the egg is hatched and there will be an element of chance in mating. This means that 2 low rarity Birbs can produce a higher rarity egg.
The Future of Derpy Birbs
Eggs will incubate for a period of approximately 2 months whilst artwork for Gen 2 is completed. When the artwork is complete, hatching will be enabled and optional. When the next generation comes out (Gen 3), all Gen 2 Eggs will automatically hatch. Gen 1 is the master collection: owning a Gen 1 Birb will probably be required to interact with anything we build next.

Enable mating via Eggs
When egg artwork is complete, breeding will be enabled via the website. Allow any two of your Gen 1 Birbs to visit the love shack and you will receive one (1) Gen 2 Egg. You keep your Gen 1 Birbs, they will not be able to mate again for Gen 2, but can mate again for other assets.
Develop Marketing plan
We will work with partners to develop a sustainable marketing plan for Derpy Birbs. This includes developing any competitions and other events for the community.
Hatch eggs after Gen 2 artwork is ready.
When artwork for Gen 2 Birbs is complete, your Gen 2 eggs can be hatched. We will keep the community updated with expected delivery dates.
Release Merch in our store
Find and partner with a merchandise supplier that can produce and supply Derpy Birb t-shirt and other apparel for global distribution. We may run competitions around this and will update the community with details as this develops.
Enable Special mating seasons for seasonal assets
When Gen 2 artwork is complete, we will start work on producing the artwork for seasonal mating events. Seasonal mating is available to Gen 1 Birbs only. Breed any two Gen 1 Birbs to receive a seasonally themed piece of generative Birb artwork, like receiving a Christmas card!. Collect all 4 seasonal assets for future utility TBD
Develop a game for Derpy Birbs
We will begin work on developing a fun and simple game for Derpy Birbs. Take control of your Birb in our custom made game. We will update the community on an expected format and release date after we deliver Gen 2 Birbs.
Release time frame for Gen 3
After Gen 2 Birbs have been hatched and delivered, we will work on the timeline for breeding your Gen 2 Birbs for eggs and provide an estimate for the timeframe to deliver Gen 3 artwork. We will also give announcements on any creative collaborations/guest artists for Gen 3.
